Blue Ridge & Western

The Blue Ridge & Western is a free lance American H0 gauge layout. It is the terminus
of a branch line somewhere is the fifties. The area where the Blue Ridge runs is in
one of the eastern states, probably a rural state like Kentucky or Tennessee.
The Blue Ridge runs of course through the Blue Ridge Mountains and
ends in the sleepy little town of Blue Ridge Hollow.

In those days steam engines still ran, but diesel power was also coming up. Every few days a steam engine with a few antique coaches pulls in at the station. More often a doodlebug handles these chores. The station has a turntable on which steam engines and the doodlebug are turned. A few small industries are still served by the railroad, but bankruptcy is not far around the corner.

The layout is modular and measures 4.80 meters by 60 centimeters. The layout is digitally controlled and operation is handled from the front of the layout to encourage interaction with the audience. All locomotives have sound decoders.

The layout was build by Gerbrand Haans, assisted by Peter and Len de Vries

Blue Ridge & Western is no longer available for exhibitions.
